Donate Items for Smashing
Decluttering? Moving? We'll take it.
What we take
The Anger House accepts donations of items that other people are going to enjoy breaking. Generally, we welcome:
- Glass items — plates, mugs, drinking glasses, wine bottles, beer bottles, vases, ceramic figurines, picture frames, decorative bowls
- Small electronics — DVD players, VHS players, CD players, alarm clocks, landline phones, fax machines, printers, scanners
- Small appliances — blenders, coffee makers, toasters, microwaves (without the magnetron — we remove these), toaster ovens
- Speakers — old computer speakers, boom boxes, alarm clock radios
- Keyboards and computer monitors — CRT monitors are gold; modern LCD/LED monitors we take but break carefully
- VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs — by the box if you have them
What we CAN'T take
- Anything with a lithium-ion battery — laptops, phones, tablets, modern wireless headphones. Fire hazard.
- Fluorescent bulbs (mercury)
- Pressurized containers (propane tanks, full aerosols)
- Anything containing freon (working refrigerators, A/C units)
- Anything with hazardous chemicals (printer toner cartridges intact, ink cartridges full, mercury thermometers)
- Large furniture — we're a small room
- Anything sharp that isn't ALREADY breakable
How to drop off
Two ways:
- During open hours — Just bring it by. Thursday 5–8, Friday 5–9, Saturday 12–9, Sunday 11–5.
- By appointment — For larger loads, call ahead and we'll arrange a daytime drop-off when we're at the space prepping.
Why donate?
- It costs us less to acquire breakables, which keeps session prices reasonable for everyone
- The stuff doesn't end up in landfill in its current form — at least it gets one last satisfying use first
- You get the small but real satisfaction of knowing the wedding china from your divorce is going to a better afterlife
Tax receipts
The Anger House is an LLC, not a 501(c)(3) — so donations aren't tax-deductible. But we are extremely grateful regardless.
